RK&K is seeking a motivated and creative Traffic Project Engineer with Four (4) to eight (8) years of experience to join our highly successful traffic group in our Wilmington, Delaware office. As a Traffic Project Engineer with RK&K you will work alongside and collaborate closely with one of the largest, most talented groups of traffic engineers and transportation professionals in the industry. You will play a crucial role within our team, developing traffic engineering designs to improve transportation systems throughout the region. Our projects focus on improving operations and safety for motorized and non-motorized modes of travel, providing healthy and livable communities, and implementing technology-based transportation improvements.
Essential Function
- Perform a variety of tasks, including traffic engineering design plans and preliminary engineering design
- Support projects for all modes of travel including highway, bus, rail, bicycle and pedestrian in urban, suburban and rural environments
- Complete studies and develop high quality traffic reports with limited direction and be able to clearly, professionally present that information to our clients on site and virtually
- Prepare documentation and design plans for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, temporary traffic control, lighting, and Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS)
- Prepare technical reports and presentations
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Four (4) to Eight (8) years of progressive experience in traffic engineering
- Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills including public speaking
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and AASHTO guidelines
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Delaware or ability to obtain in six (6) months
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
