RK&K has an opportunity for a mid-level Structural/Bridge Engineer with 4 to 7 years of experience to join our team in King of Prussia, PA. As a Structural Bridge Engineer with RK&K you will prepare designs for bridges and other transportation related structures for a variety of projects and clients. Provide preliminary concepts to final construction plans. You will also provide structural condition inspections of bridges and structures following NBIS guidelines.

 

Essential Function

  • Design structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and related structures
  • Provide expertise in geometric layout and quantity development
  • Calculate bridge load ratings
  • Draft inspection reports
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team across RK&K’s portfolio
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Review/check design calculations, drawings, estimates and specifications produced by junior engineers
  • Willingness to engage in business development activities
  • Perform bridge inspections in accordance with the NBIS

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or structural engineering
  • Registration as an EIT (FE passed)
  • Experience or willingness to learn software such as: PennDOT Engineering Software, LARSA, LEAP Bridge Concrete/Steel, STAAD Pro, VBent, MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, various other structural programs
  • Effective, professional oral and written communication

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or structures
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Previous experience in structural or transportation engineering
  • NBIS/CBSI Bridge Inspection Training
