Senior Transit Planner

As a Senior Transit Planner, you will be responsible for developing and analyzing potential improvements to public transit and rail projects, programs, and services; managing staff; preparing proposals; and managing existing contracts. The position requires proficiency in a range of transportation planning disciplines, including multi-modal corridor planning; environmental impact analysis; travel trends analysis; strategic, regional, and long-range planning; active transportation; public engagement; policy analysis; and financial planning. Familiarity with FTA funding programs, particularly Capital Investment Grants, is desirable.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and analyze transit and rail project alternatives and multi-modal transportation corridors
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on project phases ranging from concept to construction
  • Analyze data, including demographic, travel demand, economic, environmental, and land use
  • Conduct, synthesize, and present policy research
  • Identify funding mechanisms and prepare grant applications
  • Design and implement public engagement programs, including meeting materials, group facilitation, and engagement with individuals
  • Write reports, presentations, and technical memos
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project team meetings

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge of transportation planning fundamentals
  • Demonstrated technical and non-technical professional writing

Required Education and Certification

  • BS in Urban & Regional Planning, Transportation Engineering, or related field

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field
  • AICP certification
  • Demonstrated ability to present policy concepts and data in an engaging, persuasive manner in reports and presentation decks

Salary range: $60.00-$75.00 per hour
