Lighting & Signal Design
RK&K has delivered more than 200 traffic signal designs over the past five years, supporting both on-call contracts and project-specific efforts. Our expertise includes:
- Traditional and specialized signals (pedestrian hybrid beacons, ramp metering, flashing beacons, movable bridge signals)
- Full signal system design (detection, controllers, cabinets, poles, heads, conduit, cabling, electrical service, communications)
- Signal operations (timing plans, system parameters, implementation support)
Our lighting design capabilities cover highways, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and overhead signs. We use photometric analysis to meet IES standards for average and uniformity, and our plans include LED lighting for roadway, signs, tunnels, decorative features, and high mast applications.
