For over 50 years, RK&K has delivered innovative and reliable solutions in water distribution and transmission, with specialized expertise in large-diameter water main design. Our team has successfully planned, designed, and overseen the construction of a wide range of projects across urban, suburban, and rural environments.
Comprehensive capabilities include alignment studies and design for transmission mains, full municipal distribution systems, and utility relocations; water mains ranging from small service connections to 108-inch diameter; systems operating at pressures from 50 to 250 psi; and pipeline lengths from under 1,000 LF to over 50,000 LF. We bring experience with a range of material types including pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP); steel, ductile iron (DIP), reinforced concrete (RCP), and PVC pipe; and harnessed and unharnessed joint systems.
We are experienced in a range of installation and construction methods including conventional trench installation; pipe bent/cradle supports and indigenous material foundations; subaqueous crossings, bridge suspensions, tunnels, and micro-tunnels; construction within agency and railroad rights-of-way; and solutions for corrosive or contaminated environments.
Our rehabilitation expertise includes relining and rehabilitation of cast iron, steel, PCCP, and RCP systems as well as valve and valve vault design, including systems up to 108-inch isolation valves and complex three-way configurations.
