Travel demand forecasting establishes the foundation for evaluating future traffic operations. At the project level, forecasts include the development of future-year No-Build and Build traffic volumes. These volumes are informed by historical trend analyses, population and employment projections from state and local sources, and regional travel demand models.
Build volumes are developed through careful application of travel demand models supported by engineering judgment. To ensure accuracy, RK&K reviews all model outputs to confirm that results are correctly interpreted and that the translation between No-Build and Build volumes is applied appropriately.
With extensive experience preparing travel forecasts for municipalities and state DOTs across the country, RK&K delivers reliable, defensible forecasts that guide effective transportation decision-making.
