RK&K is thrilled to announce a major expansion of our environmental services in the Southeast! We’ve recently welcomed four talented biologists – Project Delivery Leader Beau Marshall, Environmental Scientist Sergi Picas, Project Manager Martin Melville, and Project Scientist Eric Green – who bring diverse expertise and unique qualifications to RK&K. Let’s meet this dynamic team:
Currently seated in RK&K’s Georgia office, Beau has extensive environmental experience and regional experience in the Southeast with the Georgia Department of Transportation. His skill set combines expertise as a wetland scientist, wildlife biologist, and project/team manager to navigate complex project challenges and deliver quality environmental services for RK&K’s clients. Beau employs creative approaches and solutions to navigate a complex regulatory environment for infrastructure and development projects. For the Southeast ecology team, he leads our business development and marketing, contract development, and business administration efforts.
With over four years of experience in the Southeast and across the country, Sergi’s expertise includes wetland ecology and wildlife biology, encompassing both terrestrial and aquatic species. His skill set includes habitat assessments, wetland/stream delineations, 401/404 permits, and protected species surveys. Sergi has a passion for wildlife as his expertise includes surveys for snakes, turtles, lizards, and various amphibian species. In addition, he is proficient in GIS and GIS analytics, GIS/GNSS technology, and field data collections.
Eric holds a federal recovery permit for three endangered and threatened bat species. His experience includes many bat survey projects across the United States resulting in 225 mist netting events, 55 acoustic detections, and the handling of over 550 bats from 23 species. With 11 years of field biology experience, including seven years in academia, Eric has worked with various taxa, conducting field surveys in the Panama rainforest, tracking alligator snapping turtles in Oklahoma, and contributing to reproductive monitoring for Mexican spotted owls as a seasonal hire for the US Forest Service. Eric’s federal recovery permit is range-wide for each species approved and includes the following states:
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
Martin is a highly experienced aquatic biologist with specialized expertise in federal and state-protected fish, mussels, and crayfish. He holds a federal recovery permit that covers over 100 species that he’s authorized to survey across the RK&K footprint. His experience also includes fish seining, backpack and boat electrofishing, SCUBA diving, grubbing, quadrate sampling, and mussel relocations. Martin’s federal permits enable him to conduct surveys for species in the following states:
