RK&K was recognized at the American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina’s Engineering Excellence Awards Gala by receiving the Engineering Excellence Award for Structural Systems in the $10-$15 Million Category for the South Carolina Department of Transportation’s Bridge Package 30 Design-Build Project.
RK&K served as the Lead Designer on this $12.3 million project that consisted of four emergency bridge replacements in response to the catastrophic devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in September of 2024.
Following accelerated procurement, RK&K staff developed and delivered construction plans for all four sites in less than four months, allowing time to construct the sites and have them open to traffic before the one-year anniversary of Helene’s impact to South Carolina.
This award truly celebrates our team’s outstanding coordination of simultaneous design and construction operations, ensuring public safety and delivering a transportation milestone in South Carolina!
