The Project
RK&K is supporting planning, design, and construction of a new 16-mile light rail line in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
The Purple Line is the first circumferential light rail line in the U.S., the first light rail line in the region and one of the largest Public-Private Partnerships in the U.S. During preliminary engineering RK&K, provided oversight of civil, utility, structural and geotechnical engineering.
During the P3 procurement phases, RK&K led development of the technical provisions of the design-build contract. During construction RK&K is acting as the owner’s engineer, providing design reviews, railroad coordination, construction management and program controls.
