We are looking to add an experienced Geotechnical Project Manager to our Virginia team. Join us in supporting diverse transportation, transit, and environmental projects such as highway and rail bridges, buildings, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, ground treatment of soft soils and subgrades, and utilities. Ideal candidates possess VDOT and Virginia municipal experience, proactive problem-solving skills, a solid grasp of geotechnical principles, and hands-on expertise in geotechnical/pavement design and field operations. As a senior member, you’ll collaborate across disciplines, preparing plans and reports for various geotechnical and pavement projects, supervising field investigations, reviewing design computations, and offering recommendations. Essential Function
- Assist in leading our geotechnical/pavement design and engineering group throughout Virginia with development and delivery of geotechnical assignments
- Assist with Business Development and Marketing Teams to secure future clients and workload
- Provide geotechnical expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the geotechnical aspects of the project
- Foster innovative design concepts related to Geotechnical Engineering to enhance project efficiency
- Serve as Project Manager on a variety of geotechnical related projects
- Aid in producing construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Facilitate internal and client meetings and presentations
- Serve as a liaison between client and firm
- Administer QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work
- Hire, train, and mentor entry level and junior level Geotechnical engineers
Required Skills and Experience
- Passion for client service and engineering
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- 10+ years of Geotechnical Design Experience (5+ years of VDOT experience)
- Experience in management of Geotechnical Task Assignments
- Comprehensive knowledge of VDOT Geotechnical and Pavement MOI’s and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification
- Significant understanding of the following software: Microsoft Office, gINT, OpenGrounds, LPile, APile, MSEW, Slide, Settle 3, Slope/w, AASHTOWare Pavement ME, and GRLWEAP
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Virginia Professional Engineer License
Preferred Skills and Experience
- MS or advanced degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering preferred
