As a Structural Engineer at RK&K in Baltimore, you will play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of transportation and municipal structures. Leveraging your expertise in structural engineering, you will contribute to projects aimed at enhancing the infrastructure in Maryland while ensuring the safety and durability of structural elements.
Salary Range:100-120k (commensurate with experience)
Essential Function
- Utilize expertise in structural engineering principles to design bridge and municipal structures that meet project requirements and adhere to regulatory standards
- Perform structural analyses utilizing industry-standard software tools such as Microstation, Leap Bridge Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, LARSA, Open Bridge Designer, or similar programs.
- Develop detailed design drawings and prepare specifications for construction
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage structural projects from inception through completion
- Coordinate with contractors and regulatory agencies to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Maintain rigorous standards of quality and compliance with relevant codes and standards throughout the design and construction process
- Conduct thorough reviews of design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and safety
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs, communicating project progress effectively, and providing innovative solutions to address their challenges and requirements
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on bridge design and transportation projects. Experience with both concrete and steel design
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Microstation, Leap Bridge Concrete, AASHTOWare BrR, LARSA, Open Bridge Designer, or similar programs
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards related to structural design and construction (e.g., AASHTO, ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCE).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with clients and stakeholders.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
