Project Engineer III – Water/Wastewater

RK&K’s large, growing Water/Wastewater Group, within one of the nation’s top consulting firms, is seeking to hire a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Process Engineer/Project Manager to work from our Baltimore or Washington DC offices. In this role, you will work closely with project managers and other team members to lead evaluation and planning, design and construction services on a variety of wastewater treatment projects.

Essential Function

  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and costs estimates for wastewater treatment projects
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to wastewater systems
  • Preparation and review of technical memoranda, engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Preparation of scope and fee documents
  • Work directly with the owner, designers, other engineers, project managers and contractors. 
  • Exceed client expectations for quality, schedule and budget
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans 
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of contractor means, methods, measurements and materials 
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of QA/QC development and execution process 
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of contract specifications, standards, etc. 
  • Mentor staff by training employees and supporting personal growth opportunities 

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university 
  • Seven + years of demonstrated experience in performing process analyses and working with a multi-disciplined engineering team to develop construction plans and specifications for unit processes in liquid and solids treatment
  • Passion for quality work and client service 
  • Excellent client relation and communication skills

Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • Professional Engineer registration
  • Experience working with municipalities in the Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania region
