RK&K is currently seeking an Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Certified Coatings Inspector. As an AMPP Certified Coating Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of any bridge/concrete/facility coatings meets project plans and specifications. Your expertise will help us uphold RK&K’s highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence in every project we undertake.

 

Essential Function

  • Conduct thorough inspections of contractors’ coating operations to verify compliance with VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications and/or project specifications along with RK&K’s standards for safety and quality.
  • Work closely with contractors, the construction team, and agency personnel to coordinate work schedules and inspection phases, providing seamless project execution.
  • Identify contract specification violations and work collaboratively with contractors to recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Understand and follow any state and federal environmental and safety guidelines along with associated regulations.
  • Take accurate field measurements of pay items and maintain detailed records of daily progress in project diaries including photos.
  • Advise contractors on necessary adjustments to operations to maintain compliance and resolve any issues that arise.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats with contractors, RK&K project teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using computers including but not limited to VDOT Site Manager, PlanGrid software and Microsoft Office suite for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Basic Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 1) – AMPP
  • Ability to carry and or lift 25lbs. Work at elevated heights more than 100 ft, escorted in manlifts, climb fixed and mobile ladders, exposure to construction noise, etc.
  • Successfully completed one of the levels within the AMPP Certified Coatings Inspector Program with at least 0-12 months experience of coatings inspection.
  • High School Diploma/Equivalent.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bridge Coatings Inspector (BCI) Level 1 or Level 2 Certification
  • Certified Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 2)
  • Senior Certified Coatings Inspector Certification (CIP Level 3)
  • Concrete Coating Inspector (CCI) Level 1 or Level 2 Certification
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety Training
  • OSHA Fall-Protection Certification
  • Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control – VDOT Approved Provider
