Job Description:

RK&K is searching for an experienced water resources engineer in its Newport News, Virginia office. This position will consist of developing drainage designs and Hydrologic / Hydraulic models and reports in support of transportation and municipal projects. Further, this position requires design experience with drainage, stormwater management, culvert design, hydrologic analyses, river mechanics, scour countermeasures, floodplain management and erosion and sediment control as they relate to roadway design. Candidate must be experienced in producing transportation and civil construction documents, specifications and engineering construction cost estimates for VDOT. Successful candidate will be able to work in a cooperative team-focused environment, train and mentor staff.

Required Education & Experience:

BS in Civil Engineering with 8 or more years of progressive design experience.

Experience working in a roadway and civil design team environment and completing water resources design tasks

Hands-on Microstation Platform expertise

Proficiency with GEOPAK drainage, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster or HY-8, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-55 and other hydraulic computer applications

Knowledge of TMDL implementation and Chesapeake Bay compliance issues is preferred

Preferred Skills:

BS degree in Civil Engineering (MS preferred)

Commonwealth of Virginia Professional Engineer Registration (Current)

Pre-Employment Conditions:

Valid Driver’s License
